What makes our hackathon special

EverybodyHacks is UW’s newest interdisciplinary hackathon. Our hackathon was created for students of all majors. To us, hacking is all about problem solving. It’s about being collaborative, resourceful, creative, thinking on your feet, and having fun! We believe that description can apply to projects of any major. That’s why we want students of all academic backgrounds and interests to join us and show off their unique skills. Whether you’re interested in app design, creative writing, policy assessments, data visualizations, map atlases, historical reviews, blueprints, visual art, or any other creative outlet—our hackathon is the place for you. Join EverybodyHacks 2022 to spend a day working on what you love!

Our hackathon will be held on

Saturday, May 14th

9:00am - 8:30pm

Theme

This year's theme for EverybodyHacks is WATER. We are encouraging students to think about real-world issues related to water that they can center their hackathon projects around.

Location

This year, we will be hosting the hackathon on a virtual platform called Gather. Once you register, we will send you more information about the platform and how to use it!

Team Formation and Tracks:

You can register for the hackathon as any of the following:

Full Team:

Three/Four members

Partial Team:

Two members

Individual:

One person

If you register as an Individual or a Partial Team, we help connect you with other hackathon participants so that you can form a Full Team.

If you are registering as a Full Team or Partial Team, don’t forget to list your group members’ names on the registration form!

The registration form will ask you which hackathon tracks you’re most interested in joining. You can think of the tracks as different “genres” of projects.

Which track speaks to you?

Arts

Represent an aspect of your chosen water issue using any artistic medium. That could include creative writing, visual art, music, or any other art form!

Research

Create a report that analyzes some aspect of your chosen water issue. Your report should include your own original maps, policy analysis, historical review, data visualizations, or any other representation of the issue.

Design

Develop some kind of product that aims to solve, mitigate, or otherwise address a water issue of your choice. Some ideas for a design project might be a marketing campaign, engineering idea, policy proposal, infrastructure blueprints, app design, etc.

Your Choice

If your team's project doesn't fit into the molds we've described above, then this track is for you. You could create something that combines ideas from the other three tracks, or something different altogether! It's your choice.
