About the Hackathon
EverybodyHacks is UW’s newest interdisciplinary hackathon. Our hackathon was created for students of all majors. To us, hacking is all about problem solving. It’s about being collaborative, resourceful, creative, thinking on your feet, and having fun!
We believe that description can apply to any kind of project, ranging from app design, creative writing, policy assessments, data visualizations, map atlases, historical reviews, blueprints, visual art—you name it!
Our Timeline
The Hackathon is scheduled for May 14th, 2022 - mark your calendars! In addition to the main event, our Planning Committee is organizing an interdisciplinary panel series. This series is designed to include four panel-style events, featuring faculty and professionals from a variety of disciplines, each discussing how they use their particular skills from their field for social good.

Origins
Everybody Hacks was founded in 2021 by GeoDat, the Society for Geography & Data Science, which is a research club at UW focused on investigating social issues. Most often, hackathons are designed for projects related to computer science and information technology. Having participated in (and really enjoyed) a few hackathons ourselves, we decided to start our own--one where we could make any kind of projects we wanted, tech or no tech!
We also thought it would also be a great way to foster interdisciplinary connections on campus, and encourage all of us to step outside our majors to learn about each other’s skills and strengths. GeoDat’s goal for this hackathon is to invite all undergraduate students on campus to engage in a hackathon environment and work together on projects of their choosing. It’s a chance to hone our skills and learn about each other, all while working toward social good!
